Summate Announces Collaboration with One Surgical for Medical Device Industry’s First Digital Orthopedic Sets and Trays
Newburyport, MA. Summate Technologies and One Surgical today announced a formal collaboration to bring the world’s first digital implant sets and trays to market in 2023. Under the agreement, Summate will incorporate its patented ScanReady™ technology into One Surgical’s line of extremity trauma implants and instruments. The system will work with Summate’s Odyssey OR scanning system at One Surgical customer sites to automate implant documentation via scanning at point of use inside the sterile field. The system will also enable “Just in Time” inventory replenishment with automated payment authorization, thereby eliminating billing delays and paperwork.
“We are excited to work with One Surgical to bring supply chain automation and all its benefits to the orthopedic industry. Summate ScanReady technology, combined with One Surgical implant sets and trays, will provide benefits to customers as well as solve many of the field inventory challenges that currently exist for device OEMs. Eliminating all the paperwork of the “bill only” payment system also reduces commerce friction and paperwork. It’s time to bring the orthopedic industry up to date with digital management of field assets. One Surgical is an excellent, forward-thinking partner for us” commented Phil Sayles, CEO of Summate Technologies.
The initial plan for the partnership is to develop a core line of ScanReady One Surgical trauma sets and trays for deployment at strategic One Surgical ambulatory surgery center partners, and then to release a full line of digital sets and trays in late 2023.
One Surgical Inc. is an FDA registered medical device company offering both trauma and spine implants and instruments. The company was founded on its “foundation to innovation” philosophy to focus on both everyday surgical implant needs as well as developing new technology to advance patient care.
Summate Technologies, Inc has developed the world’s first true total Point of Use OR scanning technology with the Odyssey system, which can deliver supply chain automation and digital educational content to where it’s needed - at the edge of and inside the sterile operative field. In addition to scanning implant usage, the Odyssey can capture packaged item UDI surgical product information in one imaging step through its partnership with Symmetric Health Solutions, making it the only system in the world that captures all surgical theatre consumption data through POU scanning/imaging.
